Stay This May at The Ashford Arms

May is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit the Peak District. With longer days, fresh green landscapes and wildflowers beginning to bloom, it’s the perfect moment to slow down and enjoy the countryside.

At The Ashford Arms, nestled in the heart of Ashford-in-the-Water, you’ll find yourself surrounded by some of Derbyshire’s most picturesque scenery,  all just steps from your door.

Explore the Local Area

There’s no shortage of things to see and do during your stay. Whether you’re after a gentle stroll or a full day of exploring, you’ll find plenty to enjoy nearby.

Take a step back in time with a visit to the historic Magpie Mines, one of the best-preserved lead mining sites in the country. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the area’s industrial past and well worth the walk.

Closer to home, wander through the village itself. Ashford-in-the-Water is known for its charm, with winding streets, cosy cottages, and the much-loved Sheepwash Bridge – one of the most photographed spots in the Peak District.

Walks From the Door

One of the real joys of staying with us is how much you can explore without needing the car.

A favourite route is the riverside walk to Bakewell. Following the River Wye, this scenic path offers peaceful views and an easy-going walk into one of the area’s most popular market towns, Bakewell – perfect for a coffee stop or a browse around the shops.

For those wanting something a little more adventurous, the Monsal Trail is a must. This traffic-free route runs through spectacular limestone dales, with tunnels, viaducts and sweeping views along the way. It’s ideal for both walkers and cyclists.

Better still, guests staying overnight with us receive an exclusive 20% discount on bike hire at Monsal Cycle Hire, making it even easier to explore the trail at your own pace.

A Perfect Spring Escape

Whether you’re here for a weekend break or a longer stay, May offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Spend your days exploring the countryside, then return to The Ashford Arms to unwind, refuel, and enjoy a warm welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you this spring.
