Wednesday 18th February marks the launch of our latest menus at The Ashford Arms and they are a proper celebration of flavour, seasonality and comfort done well.
Our kitchen team has been busy crafting a fresh line up that welcomes the lighter, brighter notes of spring while keeping those hearty, soul warming favourites you know us for.
We work closely with trusted suppliers who share our values for quality and provenance, choosing produce that shines at this time of year. The result is a menu that feels adventurous yet familiar. You will spot influences from world cuisines, brought home to the Peak District with a thoughtful, gastropub twist.
If you are searching for great food in the Peak District, a cosy pub near Bakewell or somewhere special for lunch or dinner in Derbyshire, this new menu was made for you.
Starters that set the tone
First impressions matter and our new starters are designed to get your tastebuds fired up for what is to come. They are confident, vibrant and full of character without stealing the limelight from the mains that follow.
You might begin with pan fried red mullet, spiced pork belly bites or our Korean spiced Scotch egg. Plant based diners are well looked after too with goats cheese and celery croquette or harissa spiced baby aubergine.
Each starter is balanced, seasonal and made to be enjoyed slowly with good company and a well poured drink.

Mains worth lingering over
Our new mains bring together comfort and curiosity. Expect plates that feel generous and satisfying, built around quality ingredients and careful cooking.
Standout dishes include pan fried sea bream with sautéed spring greens, caper beurre blanc and Hasselback new potatoes.
There is a vibrant chickpea and bean tagine served with quinoa and pomegranate salad, with your choice of rump of lamb, harissa roasted aubergine, buttermilk spiced chicken or pan-fried king prawns.
The Thai green curry comes with wild rice and pickled vegetables and can be paired with slow cooked lamb shank, pan fried sea trout or crispy tofu and chickpea falafel.
For something rich and indulgent, try the honey and mustard glazed pork belly with pan fried potatoes, grilled broccoli and pineapple BBQ sauce.
Alongside these new additions, you will still find our much loved classics such as Derbyshire homemade pie of the week, beer battered fish and chips and the Longbow superfood salad.
Fresh ideas and familiar favourites, all under one roof.

Desserts that finish things properly
A great meal deserves a proper ending.
Our dessert menu brings together comfort and creativity, from sticky toffee pudding to dark chocolate mousse with honeycomb, salted caramel sauce and cherry sorbet.
There is also a beautifully light banana miso parfait with oat and matcha biscuit, fresh berries and mango sorbet for something a little different.
Being so close to Bakewell, our homemade Bakewell tart served with crème anglaise and cherry and amaretto ice cream remains a firm favourite. It is also our chosen charity dessert, with £1 from each sale donated to Blythe House Charity, so you can enjoy something sweet while supporting a brilliant local cause.

A warm welcome, whatever the occasion
