In collaboration with Derbyshire County Council and Visit Peak District, when you stay over with us, you’ll get a free Derbyshire Wayfarer Bus Ticket that entitles you to free almost unlimited bus travel around the Peak District for the duration of your stay. This promotion is valid for stays between August 1st and September 1st, 2024.
When you stay with us, we can give you a free smart travel card which gives you free bus travel on Derbyshire County Council bus routes across the Peak District. The travel cards are valid for up to a family of five.
With the travel card, you can also benefit from a discounted rate (£5.50 concession tickets for hop-on hop-off travel) on the open-top Peak District Sightseer bus. The red route stops directly outside The Ashford Arms and runs in a one-way loop past the following points;
- Chatsworth House
- Pilsley for the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop
- Hassop Station for the Monsal Trail
- Bakewell Bakewell Road for the town centre

Our menu at The Ashford Arms features classic pub favourites and dishes with a nod to international flavours. All our food is locally sourced and supplied by Peak District farms. Our menu is fresh and delicious, every time. As everything is made from scratch under the expert guidance of head chef, Chris Parker and executive chef, Adrian Gagea the majority of our dishes can be adapted to be gluten-free.
Some highlights and favourites from the summer menu include the caramelised peach and marinated mozzarella bocconcini salad or the rabbit ballotine, maple carrot purée, stove cooked potatoes, sautéed sugar snaps and tarragon cream sauce. Let’s not forget the traditional pub favourites like the beef brisket burger and Derbyshire homemade pie of the week served with mashed potatoes or chips, crushed minty peas and proper gravy.
